Spotlight Blog: This Booky Place - Guest Post

Next up for my Spotlight blog of the week is the amazing Rebecca from This Booky Place. I've watched Rebecca blossom into one of my favourite bloggers over the past 6 months or so and she is truly incredible. She has grown so much in confidence and the quality of her blog is stunning, and this guest blog post definitely showcases how fabulous she is. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...

When Zoe asked me to be her second spotlight blog I was extremely honoured, I thought that she was such an angel for giving me the opportunity to show my blog off to the all you viewers of nosaferplace. My name is Rebecca, I've been blogging at This Booky Place since January and what better way to show you all what sort of blogger I am than to do a silly post about boys.

I wish I could say that I'm a more professional blogger than this, but really, I made my blog to fan girl with other people about my favourite books. Drooling over male protagonists (and antagonists on occasion) is always a brilliant bonding experience, so please let me know who your bookish bachelors would be. Now lets meet the boys!

Draco - Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Anyone who follows me already will know about my obsession with the whole Malfoy family. Hobbies: Gate crashing parties, being broody and mysterious and flaunting his family’s wealth.

Pros: One day he'll inherit Malfoy Manor, I'm allowed to say that because this is hypothetical -do not judge my real-world ethics based on this.

Cons: Daddies boy.

“It is exceptionally lonely, being Draco Malfoy. I will always be suspected. There is no escaping the past.” - I just want to hug him. And yes, I am quoting The Cursed Child because I loved it, that's also something you should know about me.

Ron - Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

A bit different from Draco is my love for Ron. Guys with red hair are probably my favourite to be honest, so any of the Weasley's would do.

Hobbies: Quidditch, collecting chocolate frog cards and wizard’s chess.

Pros: Will produce cute ginger babies and I'll have an ample supply of knitted sweaters (which are my fave).

Cons: Huge family that will make for a cramped Christmas.

“It sort of floated toward me,” said Ron, illustrating the movement with his free index finger, “right to my chest, and then — it just went straight through. It was here,” he touched a point close to his heart, “I could feel it, it was hot. And once it was inside me I knew what I was supposed to do, I knew it would take me where I needed to go. So I Disapparated and came out on the side of a hill. There was snow everywhere. . . .” - AKA the one-time Ron said something poetic with mentioning Merlin's y-fronts.

Nate - One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

OOUIL is one of my favourite books from this year and Nate is the 'bad boy' of the characters, but he has a good heart, which is just the best of both worlds.

Hobbies: Watching Netflix, long phone conversations, going for long drives.

Pros: Loves horror films (which is my favourite genre)

Cons: Can become emotionally distant in a crisis

“I stand and hold out my hand. She gives me a skeptical look, but takes it and lets me pull her to her feet. I put my other hand in the air. 'Bronwyn Rojas, I solemnly swear not to murder you today or at any point in the future. Deal?" - Someone who promises not to murder you is always good.

Peeta - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I was team Peeta when I read and watched The Hunger Games, team Haymitch at times too but I'm not looking for a sugar daddy today.

Hobbies: Baking, painting and gardening.

Pros: Another homeowner which is just practical and he would make the perfect stay at home husband which is good because I don't think I'd be a very good homemaker.

Cons: Accidentally poisoned a girl with nightlock once.

"And then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me.” - What girl doesn't want someone to look at them like that?

Max - The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

This is a more recent addition to the club. Max is a character by Emery Lord who was introduced as the nerdy cousin of the school heartthrob, so obviously, I loved him.

Hobbies include watching Firefly and other Sci-Fi TV shows/films, reading and watching airplanes.

Pros: Always knows when to ignore what you say and call your friends for emotional support.

Cons: Hordes cookies that he won't let you eat.

"Max was the first bite of grilled cheese on a snowy day, the easy fit of my favorite jeans, that one old song that made it onto every playlist. Peanut-butter Girl Scout cookies instead of an ornate cake. Not glamorous or idealized or complicated. Just me." - Now how good does that sound?

Jace - The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I recently re-read these books and have been obsessing over the Shadowhunters TV show on Netflix

Hobbies: Gym sessions (specifically hand-to-hand combat with his bestie), music and clubbing.

Pros: Is covered in 'tattoos' (which I'm partial to)

Cons: Is too attractive and flirts with everyone, will spark jealousy.

“I don't want to be a man," said Jace. "I want to be an angst-ridden teenager who can't confront his own inner demons and takes it out verbally on other people instead." - What's not to love about that? And Same Jace. Same.

Seth - Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu

Seth plays a somewhat minor role is the femme-positive story but it was enough for him to make a positive impact and earn his place in the list.

Hobbies: Music, cruising the funeral home

Pros: Proud feminist, will ditch school to stand by you.

Cons: Is still male and sometimes doesn't understand

"There’s something rebellious about Seth. But not too rebellious. Dangerous but approachable at the same time." - I'm sensing a definite theme in my taste, angsty emo-types all the way.

Who would you pick based on the information provided? I honestly don't think I can choose just one favourite guy and there's so many more I was going to add including Four from the Divergent trilogy, Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices and even sneaking in Annabeth Chase Rick Riordan's books as a bit of a girl crush.
